I can't understand why people waste so much money on something so simple like exercise. I could save the money long term and take care of my family when they're too old to take care of themselves, buy a house, or invest. Or pay for unexpected health complications down the road. To me, the fact that people waste money needlessly on alcohol is not a convincing argument to waste more money on overpriced gyms.įor the price of equinox (not to mention bar money), I could easily buy a new car every ten years. And the way the gym is described, it almost sounds like I'd be surrounded by elitists, or people who ignore the rest of the world, or opportunists, and maybe a few genuinely nice people. Wasting more time.īeing physically hot is nice I guess, but having the ability and self control to motivate yourself, to set your own goaIs. Spending ~$300 on a gym membership when I can buy custom equipment at home for the same price, save money in there long run, save gas, commutting time, workout in the convenience of my own home, and never have to share my equipment with anyone else, hogging the machine all the time. Not sure if this makes me feel better or worse lol I used to do classpass so am used to very high standards for group classes and nothing will ever beat thatĮveryone IS extremely attractive and depending on location you get to either hang out with the bankers or the models. Never have to wait for equipment, so many plates and bars etcĬlasses are average, but I go to yoga more now because its just included. I actually swapped to biking in more often than taking the subway so cost-savings from subway can be fed into this new monthly cost. Free and high-quality steam room, shower, kiehl's products and warm locker rooms. I legit sometime just go to shower in the mornings if I bike in to work. I never had a financial motivation to go when I was on Blink because it's so cheap. I go more often because I am paying so much. I got twice as often just because of how comfortable, clean, and enjoyable it is I spend significantly more on alcohol than I do on this membership, so if I really need to cut spending why should I have it be cut out of my health budget? Hard to justify that high of a monthly cost, and I'm not sure it's "really" worth it, but at the end of the day I anticipate that the annual cost will make up a minuscule percent of my total salary. I recently received a big pay bump so made the switch to equinox. So in the end I skipped out on a lot of workouts. However - it was SO crowded after work and the lack of shower amenities meant I never worked out in the mornings. My particular location was also new so had multiple squat rack and an open area you could deadlift. I was a blink member for 4 years and honestly for the price it truly cannot be beat.
