Truck mode: While this truck is a representation of an older style blunt semi truck, it has been updated by getting rounded off and having an airfoil on the top. It would sell, and Hasbro loves releasing an old mold multiple times. I am a little surprised we have not seen a rerelease of this mold in G1 colors again. I prefer the Takara Tomy version’s paint application. There were 4 of the Takara Tomy versions available for $80 each. A quick search of gave me one hit of the single packed original figure selling for $100. There have been many versions of this mold representing alternate versions of Optimus Prime along with other characters like Nemesis Prime. The version I have came packaged with Ultra Magnus. All it is missing is a Matrix of Leadership.įor the rest of the post, I will just be looking at Classics Optimus Prime. I have to take a little away for some of the issues I have with this version of Prime, but the whole package is so cool that I want to give it a ten out of ten. After all, how can you have an Optimus Prime that pays homage to the original toy and character with out having a trailer for him? If you were to include Fansproject’s trailer and Reprolabels sticker sheet for both Prime and the trailer, Classisc Optimus Prime would score a 9.9 out of 10. I will have a separate post on the trailer under the third party category, but for now, let me say that it is awesome and makes Classics Optimus Prime much better. My favorite so far is the Trailer from Fansproject. Like many modern transformers, especially of the Classics/Universe/Generations lines, there are several third party upgrade sets for this Prime. ![]() It took some time for me to get used to a few things about it, but overall it embodies Optimus Prime and is a great addition to a collection as a toy or collectors item.
